Current Repairs to All Saints' Leamington SpaWe're delighted to have been awarded a grant of £96,900 from the National Heritage Memorial Fund Roof Repair Fund. This will cover much of the cost of re-roofing the South Aisle/Baptistery - a project which is increasingly urgent. We are planning to carry out the work after Easter. At present we have a funding shortfall of £30,000 on the cost of this essential work.
The costs to carry out a comprehensive repair of this magnificent building have been professionally assessed. The essential repairs will cost roughly £7m. The work will have to be phased over a number of years with several grant applications and we will also need to raise significant sums ourselves. This is a huge challenge and we are working with others in the town in a newly-established Friends group to increase the interest in and support for the building. Meanwhile smaller repairs have to continue, and are carried out as funds permit. Our sincere thanks to the Royal Leamington Spa Conservation Trust for the award of a £10,000 grant to redecorate the walls of the Lady Chapel, including repairs to the plasterwork. The work is in hand and is scheduled for completion by the beginning of December. If you would like to support the repair of this church, please contact us to ask for details or make a donation, or become a Friend. Legacy income is also very much appreciated as we strive to keep the building in a good state of repair. We'd be most grateful for any assistance, large or small. Working together, we can repair this widely-used building and safeguard its future. Thank you. |
The Church Clock
Quotations and funding are currently being sought to get the clock going again. The current clock has been running since 1884 and generally keeps very good time; it's especially useful to people waiting for the bus just outside the church. We're looking for an overhaul and the installation of an auto-winder. |
