Making a Donation
This stunning building costs a fortune to run. Many people are surprised to discover that we get no regular assistance from the Government*. Our current needs are for eradication of dry rot as well as ongoing roof maintenance and repairs. In the foreseeable future we need to replace crumbling stonework, re-lead windows, overhaul water drainage systems, re-slate most of the roof, and renew the wiring - a '100-year service' which will cost £7m-£8m. Work currently under way or forthcoming is detailed here.
*We're hugely grateful to have been awarded the maximum grant of £110,000 from the one-off Roof Repair Fund set up by the Government in 2014-15. This will cover much of the cost of urgent re-roofing of the South Aisle/Baptistery. Preparations are under way and we will commence work on 4 April. Legacy income has supported the work of All Saints over many decades. It ranges from money given for specific purposes, such as the repair of the building, to money which the Church is free to use wherever it is most needed. Some years ago, for example, much-needed new chairs were purchased with a legacy. A legacy can be donated for use at the discretion of the Vicar, Churchwardens and PCC (Parochial Church Council); or you ay specify how it is to be used. That might be to support the music, choir, organ, bells, fabric, staffing, or mission of the church, or for some other particular purpose.
