Late Worship at All Saints' Leamington Spa Monthly, first Friday during university termtime.

First Friday of the month, 10.15pm for 20 minutes
Atmospheric...
Mystical...
Thoughtful...
"We went inside, wondering what we'd find. Immediately a sense of calm rested on us. Ancient chant echoed quietly around the pillars, linking us to the faith of two thousand years. Fragrant incense coloured the air very subtly. Candles flickered in the form of a cross. An image of stained glass formed one side of the space, with chairs completing a circle - but we sat further back, in the shadows, still wondering. It was so peaceful, timeless, yet full of expectation.
"The worship was straightforward and beautiful. We joined in a simple modern chant from Taize, and were invited to remember and be faithful to our baptism. We listened to a Bible reading and a reflection on it, experienced some silence in the presence of God, and prayed. We were invited, too, to light a candle as an act of prayer, if we so wished. And then we were back in that ancient timeless peace, at one with the gentle evocative chant.
"Afterwards, we went outside and had a free hot drink and a chat at the NightLight trolley. But that feeling of peace remained. Something real and important was there, and we'd shared a part of it. Perhaps that's what it means to be blessed."
