David Williams Organist
David Williams began his organ studies in his native city, with Dr Caleb Jarvis, Liverpool Civic Organist, before being awarded an organ scholarship to Jesus College Oxford, where he read music and gained his F.R.C.O. After an education year at Cambridge his career has been devoted to teaching (culminating in the Music Directorship of both Merchant Taylors’ Schools in Liverpool), church music, choral society direction, and recital and concert work, as organist and harpsichordist (having studied later with Trevor Pinnock). Before moving to Leamington with his wife in 2008 he had been Director of Music at Holy Trinity Church Southport, and conductor of the Bach Choir there for the previous 38 years. In 2005 he was awarded the Cross of St Augustine by the Archbishop of Canterbury, for service to the Anglican Church. He also developed the chamber music in the area with the formation of a piano trio, which gave well supported regular recitals.
He is now a freelance organist, continuo player and private teacher . He joined the music staff at All Saints‘ at the end of 2010.
